All Over the Map - Dance your way around the world in Sister Bay, Ephraim and Baileys HarborPosted: June 30, 2007Oshkosh: "36th annual Sawdust Days." This festival, from Tuesday through Saturday , is actually a number of festivals: the LouWISiana Hot Sauce Fest, Honky Tonk Party and Buckskinner Traders & History Camp. Events include the Great Cats Adventure Show, GT Bicycles Stunt Air Show, Bear Mountain Wildlife Show and a fireworks display on the 4th. Information: www.sawdustdays.com. Door County: "28th Door County Folk Festival." Dance your way around the world in Sister Bay, Ephraim and Baileys Harbor Wednesday through next Sunday. The festival features workshops in everything from tango to Hawaiian dance, singing workshops, a silent auction and much more. Remember your soft-soled shoes; the Sister Bay Village Hall won't allow any other kind. Information: www.dcff.net. Bristol: "Renaissance Faire." Harken back to the age of good Queen Bess by taking I-94 south to Elizabethan England, just north of the Wisconsin/Illinois border. The faire's season opens Saturdayand continues on weekends-only through Sept. 3. Information: www.renfair.com/bristol. Ashland: "Ashland Bay Days 2007." A pet parade leads the way July 11 for this festival that goes through July 15 and features a variety of events including food, volleyball, a bike race, fly-in, dunk tank and more. It all takes place in downtown Ashland. Information: www.ashlandbaydays.com. Michigan: "National Cherry Festival." Celebrate the sweet treat with recipes. Or music or air dog contests. It's your choice and there are a lot of choices to make Saturday through July 14 in Traverse City. Information: www.cherryfestival.org. Minnesota: "2007 Minneapolis Aquatennial." You'd expect a regatta and canoeing lessons and they're there. But there is also a sandcastle competition, a metal sculpture contest, a blood drive and more at this festival taking place in and along the shore of the mighty Mississippi July 13 through 22. Information: www.aquatennial.com. Indiana: "Indiana Black Expo 37th annual Summer Celebration." There will be music and fun but there will also be the artwork of Nelson Mandela, a youth summit and a health fair among the many events taking place at various locations in Indianapolis July 12 through 22. Indiana Black Expo Inc. seeks to create a positive outlet for black youth and a chance to celebrate black culture. Information: www.indianablackexpo.com.
